August Favourites

Today I have for you my first favourites post, I'm not quite sure what things I will feature in this but I guess it's whatever I've been loving in that month so I hope you enjoy!

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water has been a great budget friendly way of removing my makeup and leaving my skin feeling quite soft afterwards. Carrying on with skincare I have been loving the Garnier Moisture Match for normal to dry skin which does a great job of moisturising my skin and has a very nice light scent to it which I also love.

The perfume I have is the Gilly Hicks Pyrmont Blue which I bought earlier this year and have used pretty much everyday yet it's just about a quarter of the way through. I'm rubbish at describing scents but if you have a Gilly Hicks nearby I recommend you give this a little sniff.

Makeup Revolution have definitely been a favourite to the beauty blogging world recently so I had to include this redemption palette in Romantic Smoked which I adore and I really want to try more of their products so if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below!

For my lips I have enjoyed using a Nivea Lip Butter in Caramel before I go to sleep so by morning I have lusciously soft lips. Another lip favourite has been the L'Oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss in Sin For Peach, I am so in love with this product and I seriously need to purchase more! It moisturises my lips whilst leaving a beautiful colour on them which I've been able to wear everyday.

For face I have been using the Mac prep+prime Beauty Balm all summer. I purchased this last October and wasn't too in love with it but my opinion have completely changed. It has SPF 35 and gives quite a reasonable about of coverage whilst also still feeling light on the skin. My shade is Dark for those who were wondering. Also for face I have enjoyed using the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Concealer in the shade Nude. I bought this after hearing so much about it in the beauty community and I'm sure you all have to, it's great for covering under eye circles and I know I'll love this even more when I go back to school and have those early starts to the day.

For mascara I have the L'Oreal False Lash Flutter which definitely does give you a flutter effect, giving your lashes a reasonable about of volume and a lot of length.

My favourite show of this month would of course be Pretty Little Liars, which I wont go too much into as I've done a post on this which you can read here but I'm still shocked at the latest episode! For my last favourite I have youtuber Gabriella from velvetgh0st who I absolutely adore from her main channel, vlog channel and all the funny tweets she writes, she is so worth watching.

What has been your top 3 favourites of this month?

Best Dressed: VMAs

I'm back with my second award show post, I had previously shared my best dressed from the Teen Choice Awards which you can read here and this time I will give you my best dressed from the Video Music Awards. Before we start I just want to say how amazing Ariana Grande's performance was, she's come such a long way in just a short amount of time and I couldn't be happier for her! Anyway lets get on...

First we have Iggy Azelea in this gorgeous dress by Versace, I think she looked so beautiful in this dress and she didn't over do it with the makeup or hair either as the dress was the main focus of this look.

Next we have Lucy Hale, although I love this whole look I'm still unsure whether the skirt looks good on her or not as she is very petite. What are your thoughts?

Demi Lovato looked so elegant in this simple red dress, I absolutely love her style!

Who do you think was best dressed at the VMAs?

When Words Fail Music Speaks

(I still don't know if the title makes me cringe but it's still true)

Music is just one of those universal topics which can bring anyone together and I know I'm not the only one who can't go a day with out listening to some music whether that be Kiss 101 or Capital on the radio or some of my all time favourite songs. I listen to music a lot when I'm getting ready, cleaning, travelling, doing some school work or if I just want to relax. So I thought I'd share with you a few songs that I will never get bored of and some of my current loves.

My Favourite Songs Of All Time

  1. Sleeping At Last- Turning Page
  2. Bella's Lullaby (beware, this song has no lyrics, completely instrumental)
  3. Coldplay- Up In Flames
  4. Coldplay- Charlie Brown (I'm a huge Coldplay fan)
  5. Take That- Rule The World
  6. Mumford and Sons- The Cave
I just realised that these songs are all quite relaxing and quite different from many people's taste in music but that's the beauty of music, it's so diverse.

My Current Song Favourites

  1. Troye Sivan- Happy Little Pill
  2. Sia- Chandelier
  3. Geogre Ezra- Budapest
  4. Jonathan Clay- Heart On Fire (From the movie LOL which I recently watched again)
  5. One Republic- Love Runs Out
  6. Coldplay- Magic
What songs are you currently loving?

(p.s I hope everyone did well in their exams, I was so happy with my GCSE results I still can't believe I managed to achieve the grades I did, hard work really does pay off! I had 6As and 5Bs if your were wondering)

Mini Beauty Haul #2

I absolutely love the Beauty Studio by Superdrug but as the only one is in Cardiff I really do hope they expand soon as it's so easy to shop in and you would all fall in love with it! It was my second time visiting the store and I saw that L'Oreal had a 3 for 2 deal on and so did a few other brands. Maybelline had a buy one get second half price so there were a few good deals on and I couldn't resist buying a few things.

L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in W8. This shade is a little dark for me, W7 would probably be better but I'm going to try and make this shade work for me in some way.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows in Eternal Gold and Permanent Taupe. I already have the pomegranate and eternal pink shade which I love so I thought I'd slowly start collecting all the colours as they're great on their own all over the lid or as a base for your eyeshadows.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 07, a matte liquid lipstick. I've only tried it once, loved the colour and the finish however you could see all the lines on my lips but with a little help from a lip scrub all will be okay.

L'Oreal Volume Million Excess Mascara in black. I've used this twice and I'm already in love with it. I had previously been using the false lash flutter mascara which I also love. I think L'Oreal are amazing for mascaras!

L'Oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss in the shade 912 'Sin For Peach'. Can you believe it's my first ever lip crayon! It's a gorgeous everyday colour and so easy to apply, great for on the go!

What beauty products have you picked up recently? What is your favourite drugstore foundation (I want to try out a few) ?

Two Can Keep A Secret: Pretty Little Liars

I'm back today with another t.v show recommendation as my last Gossip Girl post seemed to be really popular with you all so I thought I'd carry on with this sort of feature as I love talking about this topic! So today I'm going to ramble on about another t.v show favourite of mine, Pretty Little Liars. Once again I really don't know where to start with this, it has become a huge obsession of mine and I hope I can persuade you to start watching it if you already haven't. I had started the show earlier this summer and I had caught up with all four seasons in just under three weeks, which is crazy as they're all forty minutes long and there's at least twenty episodes in each season. The show is currently half way through season five in America but as I watch it online I'm all caught up (don't you just hate waiting a whole week for a new episode of a show?)!

Pretty Little Liars is an American teen drama, mystery-thriller series based on a series of novels written by Sara Shepard. The show premiered on June 8th 2010 and is still going and I really hope it doesn't stop anytime soon!

The show is set in the fictional town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania and follows the lives of four teens Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily who's friendship group falls apart after the disappearance of their leader Alison. However as they start receiving texts from the mysterious 'A' it brings them closer together to reveal the truth. This 'A' knows many secrets of the girls lives and is always one step ahead. Nothing is holding 'A' back which makes the girls constantly on edge and their lives in danger.

As you first watch the show your initial reaction could be something such as "oh another teen show involving all the usual drama that any other show has" but trust me this show is big on the mystery/thriller side as I know that at times this show has left me so shocked at new discoveries that I will actually start to cry! There are so many secrets kept by people within the show that when some get revealed it's always exciting however I will say that the real 'A' still hasn't been revealed but if you have any theories let me know in the comments (I'm going with Alison)! Personally I love the third and especially the forth season as the thriller side to it is definitely apparent which is the type of thing I love watching. Just like Gossip Girl I love the fashion aspect to the show, especially Aria and Hanna's style!

I find myself in love with the cast list for the show but like with my last post I'll let you know my favourites! First we have Ashley Benson as Hanna Marin, I love her style as seen above and her edgy attitude. I adore her relationship with Tyler Blackburn's character Caleb Rivers. His character has a spin of show called 'Ravenswood' which only has one season but is also worth watching but around the time of season four would be best! Another character love of mine is Troian Bellisario's as Spencer Hastings, with Alison gone I'd say that she takes charge, she's smart and very competitive, again I love her relationship with Keegan Allen as Toby Cavanaugh. Lastly we have Janel Parrish as Mona Vanderwaal  who has a devious personality and like 'A' can always be one step ahead. However I have to say that I'm not too keen on Sasha Pieterse as Alison DiLaurentis.

I would 100% recommend this show, I wouldn't have wrote this post if I thought the show was average.
If you're currently watching the show let me know who your favourite characters/episodes are. Also what is it that you love about this show? But more importantly who do you think 'A's is?!

Best Dressed: TCAs

I absolutely love award shows purely because I love seeing what all the celebrities are wearing as they pose down the red carpet. On Sunday 10th the annual Teen Choice Awards took place, it hasn't yet aired here in the UK but that didn't stop me form going online and finding out that some of my favourite people won well deserved awards. Of course I then looked at some of the outfits they rocked and thought I'd share my favourite looks.

First we have The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev in a matching two piece. I am in love with these colours and they look so amazing on her. It was a perfect fit for this type of award show as it has a pop of colour and makes her look youthful even though she's young anyway. I also love the hair style she had with this, just your average side braid but messed up slightly to give an effortless look. It's easy to wear and it's a great hairstyle which I tend to sport on my bad hair days.

The next style which I adored was Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell in this beautiful white lace two piece. I am obsessed with anything lace so that's why this look is another favourite. As you can see Shay is also wearing her hair in a side braid, similar to Nina's. Both looks are similar so you can see why I liked them.

There were so many nice looks but in my opinion I think these beautiful ladies were the best dressed. I am so happy that that The Fault In Our Stars, The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars won so many awards!

What was your favourite look from the Teen Choice Awards?

Inspirations Of The week #2

Today I bring to you another inspirations of the week post which I hope you find helpful in some way! I'm currently really lacking motivation to blog even though I've only just started, I usually tend to give up on some things quite quickly but I really want to stick this blog out! So here's just a few people that have been inspiring me recently.

Out of The Urban is a fashion and lifestyle blog written by the beautiful Ellie Eveleigh. I came across her blog a few months ago as I was searching for new ones to read. I was so drawn to some of the most amazing pictures that feature on her blog. If you're more of a visual person this blog would definitely be a perfect match for you as Ellie seems to always take the most eye catching pictures. I love her outfit of the day posts as she has her own unique style which I love taking inspiration form. I'm also extremely jealous of all the beautiful places she's been able to visit and has documented so well on her blog that it actually feels like you've gone along with her!

Glitter a Little is beauty and fashion youtube channel belonging to the very sweet Chloe. I absolutely love the makeup looks she comes up with. Each one is so different to the last that you never get bored of watching her as she's always bringing new looks to her channel. I especially think that her eye makeup always looks so flawless and can be adapted easily to a style that you prefer.

I have followed Amy on instagram for quite sometime now and I always seem to fall in love with all the pictures she posts from beauty, fashion and even a lot of lifestyle. I always take inspiration from her account not only to use on my own instagram but even on my blog as her pictures seem to fit well with both categories which is something I love about her account. She has an amazing style and seems to travel to many beautiful places which again leaves me a little jealous.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what you think. Who have your inspirations been this week?

Skincare: Face Edition

Unfortunately I am one of those unlucky people who will constantly have a spot on their face so with spot prone skin, a good skincare routine is a must. My skin type used to be quite oily but now I'd say it's combination as I often have dry patches on my face. I wouldn't say that I'm a skincare freak, I use quite basic products which often just keep my skin clean and don't seem to do that extra bit I need. However I want to get more into skincare as a flawless face is probably on everyone's wishlist! However I don't have the sort of money to splash on expensive brands such as Origins or Clarins but I still think skincare is worth investing into as your makeup will look a lot better with a clean, fresh base to start with. I'm planning on buying a new range of skincare and I've had my eye on quite a few things either from The Body Shop or Lush both amazing shops which are all about skincare. So with a bit of saving I'll soon be heading of to both shops on my quest for flawless skin but for now here's what I've been using.

For a daily day and night face wash I have the Neutrogena visibly clear pink grapefruit cream wash. This claims that it 'gently cleanses to help prevent spots and blackheads without overdrying the skin'. I agree that it doesn't dry out my skin and that it does prevent blackheads however I still am left with spots. Its pink grapefruit does leave my face feeling fresh and clean. Two to three times a week I will use the Neutrogena visibly clear spot stress control daily scrub. It's enriched with green tea and cucumber which leaves my skin feeling so fresh. Its microbeads help clean my face really well and I occasionally find that it does actually help with spots when I have very little of them.

I use the Garnier Moisture Match for dry to very dry skin as a daily moisturiser. I really do love this product as it moisturises my skin very well. There's a few different versions of this to help match different skin types. I recently picked up the one for normal to dry skin which I'll try out as soon as this ones all gone. Both products I picked up from Asda for only £2 rather than the usual £5.99! For the very, very dry patches I like to use this Nivea Creme which is quite thick so does the job well.

When it comes to removing my makeup I often just used a face wipes or washed it of with what ever face wash I was using at the time. However I have finally picked up the well loved Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which you've all probably heard about so I wont ramble on! I do also still keep face wipes on the side which I'm always changing so there's no particular one I think is amazing, yet.

My lips are often dry and can get worse during the winter so I like to use Vaseline or any petroleum jelly before I put on my makeup on and before I got to bed. Sometimes I do use a Baby Lips mostly throughout the day. When I can remember I will use another blogger favourite the Lush Lip Scrub in Bubblegum.

My skincare routine is no where near impressive as I'm only just realising the importance of a good skincare routine after reading so many blog posts about it.  However I do think The Body Shop and Lush have some great products and at good prices and can be just as good as the more high end brands.

What are your skincare favourites? What are your favourite skincare brand?

Style Inspirations

Fashion plays a big role in my life and I think that goes for quite a lot of people. There's so much that can influence your style and it can often get quite confusing on what is acceptable to wear and what's not as there are always new trends coming our way. There's always going to be people who will voice their opinion which can often knock your confidence down. I believe that you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in, there's no right or wrong answer when it comes to fashion which is what makes it so great. Although we all have that one outfit that when we put on we feel so confident in. There are so many different styles out there and I often find myself going through quite a few different phases of them to try and figure out what I like best. There's obviously been times which I look back on and think why did I ever wear this? Or was this actually a trend? However I'm a lot more certain with what I like now and I thought you'd find it interesting to see what influences my style at this point in my life.

Sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner have definitely become the hot topic these last few months mainly from the daring outfits they've been sporting. Their style is something which I love to try and recreate. I'd say that Kylie's daytime wear is quite a grunge look, with shorts, crop tops, boots, check flannels and lots of jewelry mostly dark and neutral colours, the sort of things you could find in Urban Outfitters. However Kendall's day to day style is quite simple usually in plain t shirts or jeans, I love that she is able to sport a lot of causal wear and doesn't feel the need to dress up a lot every time she goes out, her style reflects stores such as Zara or H&M. When it comes to events, parties and appearances both girls are often unpredictable and are not afraid to try out new styles which is something I love. Lately I've been more impressed with Kendall's style, anything she dresses in I feel I need to have something similar as she looks flawless in pretty much everything. As they're both teens it's easier to relate to them more, they've become one of my main style icons and overall big inspirations to me as I love how even though they're young they've achieved a lot and are really independent through their clothing line, book and especially Kendall's modelling career.

Another fashion inspiration would be a clothing store itself. Usually when it comes to a new season I like to check my favourite shops online such as River Island and I browse through the new season category or their trends category which will often have staple trends of that time. It's a great way to see some possibilities or plan ahead as even now I'm already thinking what winter pieces I'll need from boots, coats, knit jumpers and all that good stuff. I love being able to shop online as there's a wider variety of things and also sites such as Asos and Boohoo which don't have a physical store.

Lastly I often find my fashion style is based mainly from street style or fashion bloggers online. I love seeing how other people piece outfits together. Although I might not always love everything someone wears, usually because I know it wouldn't look right on me , there will always be certain things that I'll pick out and would immediately have to have in my wardrobe. I often just like to see peoples style anyway even if I know I would never wear anything similar I still love that someones style can reflect how they are as a person. For example I love the way people from the fashion industry dress such as people who work for a fashion magazine or stylists as often their outfits are always daring but well put together.

Fashion blogs I like:

I hoped you enjoyed this post! Let me know what influences your fashion style.

Inspirations Of The Week #1

Today I bring to you a post in which I hope will turn into a weekly feature which I plan to post every Monday, this post will include my blogger, instagramer and youtuber of that week (quite possibly 2/3 in each category as I'm in love with so many). I'm constantly on my phone either reading blog posts, scrolling through my instagram feed of watching a load of youtube videos that I would've previously placed in my 'watch later' list. I absolutely love doing this as it gives me so much inspiration which I've constantly been searching for since starting my blog. I love how people are able to express their own individuality, I enjoy seeing their style preferences and it's refreshing to see a lot of their personality shine through whether that's through their videos or blog posts. I hope that you find this useful as I'm always searching for new people to follow and if you have any suggestions please leave a comment telling me who! When it comes to the start of another week and that dreaded Monday morning I personally feel demotivated but there will always be certain people I can go back to that will always change that around.

When I first started to read blogs I often did go to the more well known ones such as Tanya Burr or Zoella who's blogs I think are great but I found myself always reading Heather Mcknight 's blog posts, she was one of the first bloggers that I was kind of obsessed with and I've followed her blog for quite a few months now and haven't got bored yet! Heather's Blog is ' PorcelainBeautyx ' her content is mostly beauty but recently she has been doing a lot of fashion posts with quite a few lifestyle pieces. Heather maintains greatness throughout her blog from her content, to layout and my favourite being her photography! I can honestly say that I have loved every blog post of hers, I get a lot of inspiration from her and I will definitely carry on reading.

For a long time now I have been loving ' lucypercivalxx ' on instagram, she was one of the first beauty themed accounts that I followed. Her feed ranges from beauty, fashion and lifestyle. Lucy's fashion style is amazing, her style definitely inspires me when I go shopping as she seems to pull of any outfit that she's in. Lucy's feed is very pretty, quite vintage themed to with her bedroom/home decor which is something I love. I really do hope she starts her own blog soon as I already know it would become one of my favourites!

If you are not already subscribed to Gabriella 's youtube channel you seriously should be! Her youtube is called ' velvetgh0st ' and includes a lot of beauty videos, fashion and she has a separate vlog channel which I also love. I am lost for words to describe her, obviously her videos are interesting to watch otherwise I wouldn't watch them but what makes me even more drawn to her is her personality which shines through a lot in every video and I love it! Her videos are the ones were I have to watch as soon as it goes live rather then add it to my 'watch later' list which isn't a bad thing at all. I'm pretty sure most of you probably do watch her videos but if not I recommend you check them out after you're done reading this!

I realise that I'm going to have to work more on trying to describe people but you would probably understand my love for these people better by clicking on their links. I know I haven't included any photos either, I tried to get their banners but that didn't really work out and I don't want to take any of their photos without their consent, so I'm sorry for that little part. Please let me know whether this sort of post is useful or not, whether I should do it weekly or monthly in a favourites post possibly?
