My 2014 Round Up

I've read a lot of these posts recently, I've loved every single one of them but the ones I have read have been a more month by month reflection. However my year was pretty boring and I can't remember everything so this will be quite brief but I hope you enjoy this post!

Back in February I turned 16 which I guess you could say is the official teenager age, there wasn't much of a difference I felt in myself except 16 is when you can get a job which I was looking forward to as it meant I could become a little more independent and rely less on my parents. However with just a few hours left for the new year I still have not got one job but that could be due to the fact that there isn't much of an opportunity where I live or that I was just unlucky whenever I did tried.

Although I didn't mind this too much as around May/June time I began to sit my GCSE exams I wanted to put all my focus into this to make sure I get it right first time. Those few months of revising and sitting my exams weren't the best, I had practically no social life, no sleep and towards the end I started feeling a bit lifeless and a lot like a robot. I was so glad when it all finally finished, I remember my last exam was physics and I couldn't stop smiling as I kept thinking that within an hour I would be free of it all and it was a great feeling when I eventually did finish.

The Summer holidays was a long one for me as I had an additional 6 weeks off on top of the 6 weeks we usually get which I think was well deserved after all those exams. Towards the start of the summer my year had its Record Of Achievement ceremony, similar to a graduation, I loved that day so much and to me it has to be my highlight of 2014 as we got to dress up, ride in limos, have a nice meal out than party as a year group at the end of the night. Shortly after this we then had our Prom which was also a lot of fun as I've never really dressed up as much and as it was Prom it was very acceptable to go all out. At the start of the holidays I just wanted to really relax a lot, I am guilty of spending the majority of my time watching shows on Netflix, my favourite discoveries being Gossip Girl (review here), Pretty Little Liars (review here). The Vampire Diaries (review here) and The Originals. However in August my mum thought it would be a good idea to cancel our Netflix subscription which I was annoyed with at first but it was probably for the best. Looking back on those 12 weeks I didn't actually do much and the whole thing went by pretty fast. The only productive thing I did do was starting up this blog towards the end of July (first post here). I'm so glad I decided to do this as I find the whole thing rather great and in these short few months of starting my blog I have learnt quite a lot! I also want to say thank you to all the lovely comments you've left and for follwoing me on bloglovin' if you have, I'm currently on 86 followers which isn't much but a big achievement for me. Towards the end of August I received my GCSE results after a very long, anxious wait in the build up towards it, I did get upset here an there before hand but all my hard work did pay off and I was so pleased with myself. As a treat my parents took me to London for the day which I loved because I find London so fascinating (London post here).

Soon after came the hard choice of choosing my A level subjects but in the end I took Chemistry, Biology, History and Spanish and weirdly I seem to be enjoying Chemistry the most. I think underestimated how tough A levels would be even though my older sister did warn me but I'm quite an organised person and more focused on school than she was so I thought I'd be able to handle it but that was far from it. I remember on the first day of school I came home crying and asking my mum if I could just drop out of school completely, perhaps it was all that time of school but it just felt strange being back and it took me quite a while to adjust. A lot of work is involved in A levels and most of it is down to your own accord and what bit extra you do to help yourself. Towards the end of this term I was really slacking but I knew that I'd be having these few weeks off and even though it was Christmas I knew that I had to try and get back on track and reorganize myself ready for the new year. To be honest I am dreading sitting my exams in the summer as my GCSEs literally gave me nightmares and the whole idea of exams is quite daunting but that is why I'm going to use this time off to prepare myself as there really is no time for falling behind.

On another note 2014 has bought along a lot of new discoveries and you can read my 2014 favourites post here if you'd like. I've also loved all the blogposts and videos on 2014 favourites. Reading back through this post I have realised nothing exciting has really happened and a lot of my year was taken over my school work but hopefully 2015 will bring about some new and exciting things and there will be a new years resolution post tomorrow on the goals I want to set myself for the new year. I think that this year has definitely flown by but I'm actually quite glad as in just 2 years time I will be finished with school and hopefully living in another city starting university.

Let me know in the comments below what your 2014 highlight was, I'm interested to know no matter how big or small it was to you! Also I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

My Favourites Of 2014

For me 2014 has bought about a lot of new and exciting discoveries. You'll all be familiar with this style post and there will most likely be a lot of these going around within the next few days but I thought I'd share with you my favourites of 2014 from beauty to films, music to fashion and anything else in between. In a way its almost like a 2014 awards post, either way I hope you enjoy!

Beauty/Brand: I have become more interested in makeup this year which isn't so good for my bank balance but with that being said I have found a few great things that I will repurchase when they run out.

Fashion/Store: This year I have been totally obsessed with River Island and Zara, I'm never disappointed with either of these shops except the fact that they're quite expensive but I do try and look past when I spot something that I fall in love with. Clothing wise, my favourites go back to what I often wore in the summer, the pieces I picked out all seemed to have come from Zara apart from the second pair of shoes which were from Primark, you can no longer get these anymore but still worth showing you.

Fragrance: For me this is easy, my most worn fragrance is the Gilly Hicks Pyrmont Blue fragrance which I featured in a favourites post here. The smell is fresh and not at all heavy, it has served me well as an everyday fragrance.

Blog:Before starting this blog back in July I had followed quite a few blogs to learn a few tips and understand what the blogging world is about. Since starting my blog I have discovered even more fellow bloggers and I've loved reading their posts. Although I love a lot of blogs I love, I will narrow it down to a few!

YouTube: This year I have spent a lot more time on YouTube, I'm just way too addicted. Towards the end of this year I have especially loved watching vlogs and so I'm loving Vlogmas this year as I've discovered a lot of new channels too.

Instagram: I'm so obsessed with going through my Instagram feed, there's always some major envy going on when I check out some accounts.  know I have a lot of favourites, they're mainly based around beauty/fashion/lifestyle all worth checking out! Here's just a few of my favourites:

  • The Hunger Games (all 3 books)
  • The Fault In Our Stars
  • Girl Online
  • Looking For Alaska

Music: I have to say that my favourite songs of this year have been on the more mellower side. I did do a blog post back at the end of August on music which you can read here. However the ones I find myself listening to most often would have to be:

Films: I absolutely love going to the cinema so this film favourites might be a long one. There are however a few films I want to see before the end of the year such as Exodus:Gods and Kings and Night In The Museum 3. Also, I've most likely missed a few off but these are my main favourites.
  • The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1
  • Divergent

How To Tackle The Boxing Day Sales

(image taken from Google)

Sales can be quite a daunting experience for some, especially if you don't know how to go about them. I think that the most important thing to do is to to plan ahead of a sale as jumping straight into it can often be overwhelming. Like many others I love a good bargain but I know that some of you might have a real hate for the whole idea of sales. That is where this post comes into play, I'm going to share with you a few tips on what I've learnt from sale shopping which I hope you'll find useful and hopefully this will come in handy on Fridays boxing day sales.

1.List what items you plan on buying during the sales. This year I'm looking for a smart coat and a new bag and then after I have those, anything else that catches my eye will also go into the shopping bag.

2.To help to make the shopping list it's often quite handy to go online a few days before just to have an initial browse on whats out their right now and where you could possibly find what you're looking for. I tend to do this on the week of the sale.

3. Once you know what you want you should plan what shops you want to visit and in what order you'd like to visit them in. I know that for me the first shop is always River Island followed by Zara, Boots, Superdrug and Debanhams, these are the main shops I like to go to on the first day of the sales as they're very popular and often stuff I hope to buy gets sold out.

4. Plan who you'll go with, how you'll get their and at what times. I usually go with my mum and sister, we go by car and we go in time for the opening of the first store we like to go to.

5. If you're planning to go for the opening of the store it's probably best to get an outfit and your bag sorted the night before as for me I know that when I wake up very early in the morning I can often resemble a zombie and it may take me a while to fully wake up. When planning your outfit pick something causal and comfortable especially when it comes to your shoes. I usually go for a pair of boots of converse and I often get quite hot inside the shopping center so although it may seem like a good idea to layer up because of the cold weather, perhaps leave a few layers in the car as you'll probably be carrying a lot of shopping bags once you're done. Like I just mentioned, you'll most likely be carrying a lot so when it comes to your bag just go for the essentials. For me this includes money, a bottle of water, tissues, a spray/perfume, lip balm, powder and my phone.

For me I don't usually shop online on the first day of the sales as I much prefer to go into a shop and look at the items properly. I find that by going online you tend to spend forever browsing through the pages and by the time it comes to checkout, some of the things in your shopping bag might already be out of stock. Having said that I do like to have a look online once everything's calmed down a bit. Also remember not to worry if something you wanted isn't there straight away as I'm sure that most places wait a week before you're allowed to return stuff and new lines are added regularly too, so keep checking!

These are just a few of the things I like to keep in mind when it comes to sale shopping. I hope you've found this post useful. Let me know your thoughts on sales and whether you like shopping instore or online.

Urban Decay Naked Flushed: Strip

Although I've seen videos or posts on Urban Decay and have also looked at some of the products in store, I hadn't really tried anything from there before, well that was until a recent shopping trip. Not long back I went shopping and luckily for me (not so lucky for my purse) there was 10% off at Debenhams on all beauty and after so long of lusting over the Urban Decay products I decided to just finally purchase something and with that being said I purchased myself the Urban Decay Naked Flushed in the shade 'Strip'. I know this product has a lot of hype in the beauty world however I've only heard people talk about the original shade (Naked) and none of the others, Strip, Naked, Native and Streak are their current shades.I thought that for this post I'd let you know my thoughts on this little palette for those of you who have a similar skin tone to mine or for those of you wondering whether the product is worth purchasing.

Price: Originally £22 but £19.80 with 10% discount

Products: You get a bronzer, highlight and then a blush, perfect for the whole highlight and contour whether that's a light dust of the products for the day or packed on intensely for a glam night look. It's also great as it's a 3 in 1 product which makes it very easy to travel with or put in your purse as it also comes with mirror.

Pigmentation: I've found the pigmentation of the bronzer and highlight to be amazing however I find myself having to keep adding with the blush as I don't seem to get an instant colour pay off, in fact there was no pigmentation at all when I first tried it. I remember a YouTuber not too long ago had the same problem with some of the eye shadows in the Naked palettes and so scrapped a top layer of. I really didn't want to ruin the palette however I did manage to do something similar and I have found that after doing that the colour pay off is a lot better.

Overall I'd really recommend picking up one of these as it's a convenient 3 in 1 product, great quality and for a good price too! Do you have this palette, if so what are your thoughts? Are there any other products from Urban Decay worth buying? Let me know in the comments below!

Whose red carpet look did you love? Who was your favourite performer of the show?

The Body Shop Seaweed Skincare Kit

My skin is your typical teenager skin, it plays host to many spots. Out of all the products I've used  in the past many end up failing to make a difference. I've never really purchased anything from The Body Shop before even though I've stepped in the shop so many times. The Body Shop are always receiving great reviews and so I thought I'd give their skincare range a closer look. The woman in my local store was very helpful, asking questions about my skin to find the best products, she recommended products from the seaweed range. I didn't want to splurge my money on full size products just in case they don't work out however I still wanted to try a few and that's why I bought this mini gift set for only £11. They do ones like this for all the ranges and I think it's a great way to test out different products. Although they're small they have lasted me quite a few weeks and I'm still going! This post is a cross between a review of the products and a skincare routine.

In the mornings I use the Seaweed Cleansing Facial Wash which creates a foam like texture. When I first used this I was amazed at how it instantly made my skin feel so soft but without me having to rush for a moisturiser as a result of my skin feeling dry. It definitely helped clear up my skin. (I substitute this for the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control Daily Scrub twice a week)

After I wash my face I use the Seaweed Day cream which is a very light weight gel like cream. I apply it mainly to my t-zone which helps mattify those oily areas but without over drying the skin. I also use a thicker cream on top for my dry areas (Garnier Skin Naturals Moisture Match 'Start Afresh' Light softening cream

In the evenings I use the same facial was as the morning and then use the Seaweed Clarifying Toner after that step to clean of any makeup I may have missed. Like the face wash it leaves my skin feeling very soft and also very clean and refreshed.

Lastly after the toner I use the Seaweed Night Treatment, this is more like a gel than the day cream. I find that I have to apply it to my skin quite quickly as it seems to dry out and vanish if I take too long. Out of all these products this is probably my least favourite, I don't think it works for me and hasn't made a big difference, however this product could still work for you.

Overall I am very happy with this range and will be repurchasing the full size products once these have finished. Have you tried any of The Body Shop skincare range?

Autumn Clothing & Beauty Haul

As mentioned in a post I did last month (which you can read here) one thing I love about autumn is shopping! I've bought a few clothing and makeup pieces which I thought I'd share with you in one post, It's not much but still worth showing. I hope you like some of the things I bought and perhaps it'll give you some inspiration on things you could buy or an insight on whats out right now in stores. I'll try to link as many of the items as I can.

If you live in the UK you'll know how cold it can get so a parka is essential at this time of year!

I practically live in boots around this time of year and tend to pick up a new pair each time as I definitely get the wear out of them.

This black and grey striped dress is from H&M I couldn't find the link but I bought it recently so they probably still have it in store. They also have a black version too.I like to pair the dress above with this black crop top which I bought the same time as the dress but can't find it online sorry.

Yes I bought another pair of boots but I loved them too much to leave them.

I managed to pick up this dress from Primark for only £3 as it was in the sale so I'm not sure if you'll still be able to get this.

I finally got something from Tanya's cosmetics range.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Berry Smoothie 50

Let me know which piece was your favourite. What has been you favourite clothing/beauty purchase of the new season so far?

30 October 2014

Wow, so its been a whole month since I last posted something and I'm so sorry about that! I hope you're all doing well. The reason for not posting is that I started my A levels back in September and the work load ended up being way too much for me. It seemed that even when I tried to keep on top of everything and get work done as soon as possible, I would still find myself with yet more work so any free time I had I spent relaxing or catching up on some TV or with friends. Although, I've had the week off this week as it's half term and I was planning to get a lot of blogging done so it wouldn't seem like I had totally deserted my blog but once again I got busy with a few things. However, now and again when I have had time I've been trying to write up a few post which I really should get finished. I just wanted to write this post to say sorry and let you guys know what has been going on. Even though I haven't been blogging I've still been on most of my social media such as instagram, twitter and tumblr and I have off course still been reading other bloggers posts (you can find links to these at the top of the sidebar). Also I have been changing the layout of my blog, I'm never truly happy with it but I don't want to pay for a blog design until I've been blogging for a longer time.

If you have any posts you'd like to see leave a comment below letting me know! I've really missed blogging and I'm excited to get back at it!

Team Stefan or Damon?: The Vampire Diaries

I really don't know why I didn't write this post first in my little recommendation series because out of every show it has to be my number one favourite and a very big and unhealthy obsession of mine! So yes today I'm going to talk to you about the very popular show, The Vampire Diaries. By the end of this post I hope to persuade you to head on over to Netflix and basically get just as addicted as I was to watching the show, good luck and I hope you enjoy this post!

The Vampire Diaries is an American supernatural drama television series based on the same named book series written by L.J Smith. The show aired on September 10th 2009. It has recently just finished it's fifth series and will be back with its sixth later this year.

The Vampire Diaries is set in the town of Mystic falls, Virgina a place with a lot of supernatural history. The series follows the life of teenage Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) who finds herself falling in love with vampire Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). This becomes slightly complicated when Stefan's older brother damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) comes back to town. There is a constant love triangle between the three as Elena resembles a former love interest of the brothers, Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev). As well as vampires, Mystic Falls plays host to werewolves, witches, ghosts, originals and hybrids. There is also a spin of show called The Originals based on the first original vampires, it is definitely worth watching and contains a lot more action rather then a romance theme that The Vampire Diaries has.

You might be thinking The Vampire Diaries is similar to the film Twilight which I was also a fan of but believe be it is way more interesting and so much more to it! I kindly received a four seasons box set of my sister for my birthday back in February, it took me a lot longer then usual to get through it all as well as season five and season one of The Originals because my mum thought she'd join in on watching it with me (she's also very obsessed).

My favourite thing about this show is the characters within it, their personality and role in the show. Like before I will let you know who my favourites are. In answer to my title I am of course TEAM DAMON I mean how could you not be? Luckily my mum is also team Damon so there's no arguing there. He has such a daring attitude and although he may come across as heartless he occasionally shows his soft side. Quite a few times I find myself laughing at the things he says, I just adore his character so much and if you're all caught up with The Vampire Diaries you will understand how annoyed I am right now! Next we have Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) and at first I did find her annoying but I learned to love her and her caring personality. Lastly we have the original vampires Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies), Rebekah Mikaelson (Calire Holt) and Niklaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan). These three come close favourites to Damon. At first you fear them but I am in love with them now and although they don't appear in The Vampire Diaries much after season four, they do have their own spin off show called The Originals which I also recommend watching! The plots in this show are interesting but in my opinion I think it's the characters that make the show worth watching.

Who is your favourite character from TVD? How excited are you for season 6?

I've Missed You Autumn

We're already three weeks into September at that means it's finally autumn, my favourite time of the year. I've seen quite a few different autumn posts within the past few weeks and I've loved reading every one of them so it has gotten me inspired to write my very own autumn themed post. I'll be letting you know what I'm looking forward to most in this new season.

1.   A new season means buying new clothes and as I love shopping this as to be one of the things I look forward to the most! I prefer dressing for colder months, layering up, wearing a pair of boots and a cosy scarf. I've been doing a lot of online window shopping to see what staple pieces I need to grab this season. As I've had my eye on a few things I might do a clothing wishlist post soon!

2.   I can only drink hot drinks when it's cold out and that'll start to happen in no time which means I can start making hot chocolates in my favourite disney mug, topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.

3.   Since last autumn I have gotten a lot more into makeup and I think that this time around I might try to brave the famous "berry lip". However I do tend to stick to my more safe and subtle nude or pink lips, so I'll let you know how I do with that.  If you could suggest your favourite berry/dark purple lip colours in the comments that would be so helpful!

4.   The final installment to the Hobbit and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will be released later this year and I really cannot contain my excitement. I love both of these movies way too much, I think I might just have to read the Mockingjay book once more before I watch the movie.

5.   The Vampire Diaries season 6 and The Originals season 2 will also be back on soon and myself and my mum are both very excited for this! I've written up a post on TVD which will be up soon. Also the Pretty Little Liars took a mid season break but I'm sure that'll be back on next month too (you can check out a post on PLL I wrote here). I know, I am way too obsessed with t.v shows and perhaps I should socialise in the real world more but I just can't help it.

6.   I have never really celebrated Halloween properly but I still love it! I love watching Halloween themed films such as Halloween Town or Hocus Pocus also horror films are one of my favourite types and they're even better to watch around this time.

This is all I could think of for now as some of my other reasons are more for the winter months so perhaps they'll be a similar post up in December. I'd love to know what you're looking forward to this autumn, leave your comments down below!

A Day Trip To London

(I just want to say sorry for not posting all of this week, I went back to school and had so much on. I definitely need to get more organised and hopefully things will go back to normal from next week!)

As part of my reward for good GCSE results I headed over to London for a day trip with my family on the weekend of getting my results. I visit London quite often so I've been lucky enough to go to many places within London and experience what this city has to offer. However I hadn't been in so long and this time we decided to go places we had never visited before including Harrods, which to me felt more like a Gallery as the building and interior was so amazing, there were things in the store I had never seen before and pretty much everything was out of my price range and I felt that if I were to touch anything I would break it in someway. I also visited Buckingham Palace which was quite a beautiful area. We also walked around Trafalgar Square, had lunch in Leicester Square and had a little look around Covent Garden, all places I have been before and would recommend visiting. Lucky for us the weather was great which made the day even better. I thought I'd share with you a few photos I snapped whilst I was there so I hope you enjoy!

What are you favourite areas of London?

Back To School: School Supplies

I'm sorry that I have to mention school but one good thing that comes out of it is buying new stationary. I've realsied that I am not the only one who is obsessed with stationary but I can understand why so many people are! I go back to school on the 8th of September but I know a lot of people might already be back. Either way I thought it would be nice to share with you a few bits and pieces I've bought for those of you who have still yet to buy some supplies or those of you who can't help but just buy more. Most of these things were bought from Wilkinson as they have the cutest designs and at such great prices and usually have some sort of 3 for 2 offer on!

I love this little range they have in Wilkinson at the moment, this is just a file organiser as I often get a lot of loose sheets which I like to have nicely packed away just in case I may need them again

Also from Wilkinson are three individual files but these I will actually be taking to school.

I bought some highlighters and a pink pen from Wilkinson as I've found them to be really useful whilst dong my GCSEs, These Bic pens were from Asda and they're ones which I have repurchased every school year and last me for that whole school year too!

I bought this cute little organiser form Wilkinson as it will help me to stay organised with school work, my blog and anything else I have planned.

This little macaroon pencil case is actually a makeup bag from Primark but I like it better as a pencil case.

Index cards are always useful and these are from Wilkinson. They also have refill packs which I also picked up.

I think this might just be my favourite purchase. Both from Primark is this owl makeup case and owl purse, such a convenient size to fit in my school bag. Also it's owls and floral patterns and just so cute.

(p.s I know this sort of post is a little late but I have two more back to school post that I want to share at some point)
